The Southfield Cardinals Baseball organization will be hosting it’s first annual Christmas Holiday Baseball Camp. Participants at the camp will take part in practicing fundamentals in the following areas:

 

  • Hitting – Featured instructor Bruce Fields, Cleveland Indians
  • Pitching – Featured instructor Kenny Howell, Los Angeles Dodgers
  • Catching (infield, outfield, catchers-campers must provide their own equipment)
  • Base Running
  • Throwing
  • Agility and running mechanics

General Camp information:

When – December 30th, 2009

Time – 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Where – Total Sports Complex (Inflatable Dome), 30990 S. Wixom Rd.

Grades K – 8th (note: campers will participate in appropriate age groups)

Babe Ruth
 
“What if they had email, or better still, text messaging when Babe Ruth played for the Yankees? Rest assured that the biggest name in baseball — the most famous face in America — would’ve sent messages to women, some of them high-priced call girls, as well as to gamblers with whom he placed bets, lawyers who defended him on paternity suits, and the guy in the local deli who sold him bootleg brew during Prohibition. The Bambino would have been screwed, right? His reputation would have been mud and he wouldn’t have been able to grab a sponsor or endorsement if his life depended on it”, New York Post. 
 

America has once again shown us that she is not worthy of picking our heros.  Tiger Woods, for all of the good that he has done, is being destroyed by the media for “private indiscretions”.  While on the other hand, America has continued to celebrate “heros” like Babe Ruth for the better part of a century although his public and private indiscretions read like an extreme reality show on steroids (no pun intended).  I thought about some names for Babe Ruth’s reality show and this is what I came up with:  “Bamboozled by the Bambino”, “I’m too sexy for the law”, or maybe “Big Pimp’n in the MLB”.

 

Don’t get it twisted, Tiger’s not perfect but he’s still our hero.

FUN baseball camp

Saturday, January 9th from 3pm til 4:30pm, continuing every Saturday throughout the winter.  The camp will focus on hitting, pitching, and defense.  The camp is ideal for players between the ages of 9 and 12. 

 
The Bullpen Academy has moved to a newer and larger location.  The Bullpen is located at 40040 Grand River, Novi, MI 48375 within the Grand Place Commons industrial park, building 100 all the way in the back.  Between Meadowbrook and Haggerty on the north side of the road.
 
I look forward to seeing everyone and enjoying the game of baseball.  PLAY BALL!

Coach Jay 

Eastern Michigan University head baseball coach Jay Alexander has announced the team will host the 2009 EMU Holiday Baseball Camp. The camp will take place Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 28-29, at Bowen Field House.

The camp cost $125 for both days or $75 to attend one of the camp days. Both days are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at noon.

The Monday, Dec. 28, camp will feature hitting drills with individual instruction from camp clinicians. The second camp session Tuesday, Dec. 29, will feature defensive drills with a focus on individual instruction by position.
