Babe Ruth

“What if they had email, or better still, text messaging when Babe Ruth played for the Yankees? Rest assured that the biggest name in baseball — the most famous face in America — would’ve sent messages to women, some of them high-priced call girls, as well as to gamblers with whom he placed bets, lawyers who defended him on paternity suits, and the guy in the local deli who sold him bootleg brew during Prohibition. The Bambino would have been screwed, right? His reputation would have been mud and he wouldn’t have been able to grab a sponsor or endorsement if his life depended on it”, New York Post.

America has once again shown us that she is not worthy of picking our heros.  Tiger Woods, for all of the good that he has done, is being destroyed by the media for “private indiscretions”.  While on the other hand, America has continued to celebrate “heros” like Babe Ruth for the better part of a century although his public and private indiscretions read like an extreme reality show on steroids (no pun intended).  I thought about some names for Babe Ruth’s reality show and this is what I came up with:  “Bamboozled by the Bambino”, “I’m too sexy for the law”, or maybe “Big Pimp’n in the MLB”.

Don’t get it twisted, Tiger’s not perfect but he’s still our hero.
